Year 6 Elastic Band Rocket Experiment
On Monday the 25th of March, Year 6 made elastic band rockets to explore the forces exerted when elastic bands are stretched. We used straws and stapled elastic bands to them. Then we attached a card propeller to the end. Next we hooked the band round the corner of the ruler, carefully pulled back the rocket and then let go! Some rockets went really far but other didn’t. We found out that the higher you place the ruler, the higher the rocket goes and the further you pull the elastic band the further it goes. Overall the rockets were successful and we all enjoyed the activity.
